Dear PIConGPU-Users,


We invite you to test our upcoming release, PIConGPU 0.3.1!

Before releasing a new version of PIConGPU in the branch "master", we
open so called "release branches" which are feature-frozen versions from
our mainline "dev" branch that only receive bugfixes. After finishing
all the documentation and adding four large rounds of fixes within the
last month we are confident you can now test it yourself!

This is a bugfix release for the 0.3.0 release. All bugs are documented
in [2]

and will on-release be part of the official changelog.

The main issues that are fixed are so far:
  - fixed restarts with background fields enabled
  - a fix in the EnergyFields plugin and
  - an illegal memory access on the host-side in our event system.

Please be aware that we do not plan to backport these fixes to the 0.2.X
release series since 0.3.0 is the latest stable release. If anyone of
you is still working with the oldstable release (0.2.5) and urgently
needs those fixes please let us know!

You can now check out the `release-0.3.1` branch [2] on our mainline
(via git) and start testing it today! Please report any issues that you
might encounter either on this list or (preferably) on GitHub.
