Dear Danila,

the domains which are reserved for the moving window are fully part of the simulation and contains fields and particles.
The most plugins currently not take care that only n-1 gpus (VirtualWindow) are analyzed in y direction. There is an open issue [1] for that.
The hdf5 and adios output take care of the reduction in y direction and dumps out only the areas inside VirtualWindow.

best regards,

René

Dear all,

The moving window concept is described on this page:
 https://github.com/ComputationalRadiationPhysics/picongpu/wiki/PIConGPU-domain-definitions#moving-window.
It is said there that the y-size of the domain if reduced by 1 GPU.  Am
I correct that there are no macro particles in that area as it is
reserved for the movement computation?

Best regards,

Danila.
